The Oath of Eternity is a heartfelt tribute to Petar II Petrović Njegoš, one of the greatest, most profound, and most influential figures in Montenegrin history. Ruler, poet, philosopher, and visionary, Njegoš remains a symbol of the spiritual strength, dignity, and depth that have shaped the soul of Montenegro.
In this painting, he is portrayed not only as a historical figure, but as an eternal presence — a guardian of memory, identity, and national spirit. The dramatic sky, the warm glow of the setting sun, the rocky landscape, and the sacred suggestion of Lovćen all come together to evoke a sense of timelessness, sacrifice, and immortality. "Where Freedom Dances"

On the occasion of 13 July — Montenegro’s Statehood Day, marking both the international recognition of its independence in 1878 and the beginning of the anti-fascist uprising in 1941 — I am presenting my new painting, “Where Freedom Dances.” It is inspired by the golden sunsets over Mount Lovćen, Montenegrin tradition, and the love that unites people and preserves identity across generations. In the rhythm of a traditional folk dance, beneath a sky painted in fiery shades of red and orange, past and present come together — the strength of stone and the lightness of movement, belonging and freedom.
The roots embedded in the stone speak of the heritage that raised us, while the birds in flight connect the earth and the sky, reminding us that freedom is not merely a part of history. It lives in our customs, our songs, our sense of togetherness, and in every step through which we continue the paths of those who came before us. It gives us wings to travel far, yet always preserves within us the path back to who we are and to what we carry deep inside.
This painting is dedicated to Montenegro and to everyone who carries it in their heart, wherever life may take them. For wherever roots are remembered, hands are joined, and the circle remains unbroken — freedom continues to dance.
